Tamara James: Former Hoops Star Elected As Mayor Of Dania Beach, Florida

A select number of athletes have made the transition from the world of sports to the world of politics.  With plans to implement programs for the youth, enhance park facilities and incorporate programs for seniors, former nine-year professional basketball veteran Tamara James has been elected as mayor of her hometown Dania Beach, Florida.  James serves as proof that sports can foster athletes’ abilities to become good leaders.

Tamara James scored thousands of points as a basketball star at South Broward High, the University of Miami, the WNBA and the Israeli league. Tuesday, she scored her biggest victory of all.

James, 32, was elected mayor of Dania Beach, the oldest community in Broward County.

She thanked her supporters and her parents on Facebook, and promised to “mold our future.”
