Dr. Patrice A. Harris American Medical Association
Dr. Patrice A. Harris, M.D., a psychiatrist from Atlanta, Georgia, has made history by becoming the first African-American woman elected to be president of the American Medical Association (AMA). Dr. Harris has zeal for improving the lives of children and being of service to others. She has worked for children both clinically and in the advocacy arena.
As former director of Health Services for Fulton County, Georgia, Dr. Harris oversaw all county health-related programs and functions. She spearheaded the county’s efforts to integrate public health, behavioral health and primary care services.
Currently, Dr. Harris continues in private practice and is an adjunct assistant professor in the Emory Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences.
She is a member of the illustrious Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.
